Tracy Staedter Theo Kalomirakis His peers and the media alike have long recognized Kalomirakis as the leading designer in the theater industry. Having created the genre of private home theaters after designing one for his own residence in 1988, Kalomirakis was declared “The Father of Home Theater” by W magazine. Kalomirakis has also been lauded as the “The Home Theater King” by House & Garden magazine and as one of the “10 Pioneers in the Luxury Market” by the Robb Report. In 1997, Harry Abrams published Theo Kalomirakis’ Private Theater, a coffee table book featuring the best of Kalomirakis’ work. A second book about his work, Great Escapes, as published in 2003, and is currently in its second printing. Over the last 10 years, Mr. Kalomirakis has received nine CEDIA awards for "Best Home Theater," and in 2003, he was the recipient of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from CEDIA.
